Circuit Design Expert | Remote Job
Listing checked September 17, 2026 · pay as published by Micro1
Overview
This is a remote contractor role for a Circuit Design Expert to support an AI training project focused on electronic hardware. You will work with analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits, creating and validating engineering tasks that involve simulation, verification, and programmatic EDA workflows. The position is heavily coding-oriented, requiring Python and coding agents in your daily work. Expect to commit around 15 hours per week, with the freedom to set your own schedule, including weekends. Compensation is output-based, paying $80 to $150 per hour for tasks that meet project specifications.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits.
- 2Convert electrical requirements into schematics, netlists, models, HDL, constraints, or simulation inputs.
- 3Execute circuit simulation, synthesis, verification, or related workflows using command-line tools.
- 4Write Python scripts to generate inputs, automate simulations, run parameter sweeps, control instruments, and analyze results.
- 5Review and validate engineering tasks to ensure designs satisfy electrical and functional constraints.
- 6Interpret circuit requirements and determine whether a design meets its specifications.
- 7Modify netlists or hardware descriptions as needed for task completion.
- 8Run simulations or verification tools from the command line and analyze output data.
- 9Collaborate with the project team to maintain task quality and consistency.
- 10Document your workflow and results for each task.
Requirements10
- 1MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or a BS in Electrical Engineering with at least 1-2 years of professional circuit-design experience.
- 2Hands-on experience designing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits.
- 3Proven track record with designs that were fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out, not just simulated.
- 4Practical proficiency with Python and coding agents.
- 5Familiarity with CLI-accessible EDA tools such as ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator, or KiCad scripting.
- 6Experience with SPICE-compatible simulators, HDL simulators, synthesis tools, or equivalent programmatic EDA software.
- 7Knowledge of Python libraries like PySpice, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, Matplotlib, or cocotb.
- 8Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- 9Strong analytical skills for interpreting simulation results and debugging designs.
- 10Comfort with a fully remote, output-based work environment.
Who Should Apply
This role suits electrical engineers with a strong circuit design background and real tapeout or fabrication experience, who are also comfortable writing Python code and using command-line EDA tools. If you have an MS or PhD in EE, or a BS with 1-2 years of relevant work, and you enjoy automating simulations and analyzing results, this could be a good fit. Candidates who only have simulation experience without any fabricated or shipped designs are less likely to succeed here. Also, if you prefer a fixed schedule or dislike coding-heavy tasks, this role may not align with your preferences. A common reason applicants get rejected is lacking evidence of Python proficiency in a circuit design context, so be ready to show concrete examples.
Salary Insight
The pay range is $80 to $150 per hour. Compensation is output-based, meaning you are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required per task varies based on your experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply.
