Overview

Put your hands-on CAD background to work helping shape how AI systems understand manufacturing work. In this contract role, you will evaluate AI-produced content for technical accuracy, share expert feedback on machining workflows, and draft scoring rubrics used to judge process quality. Experience with Fusion 360 or AutoCAD is especially valuable, as is familiarity with CAM or CNC operations. The position runs on a flexible 15-20 hour weekly schedule, fully remote with no fixed hours. AI training experience is not expected; your engineering knowledge is what carries the work.

What You'll Do5

  • 1Assess and critique AI-generated content on manufacturing workflows, flagging any technical inaccuracies.
  • 2Apply your first-hand CAD and machining experience to judge whether recommended processes are realistic.
  • 3Build and validate evaluation rubrics used to rate manufacturing process correctness and speed.
  • 4Offer precise written feedback so the AI team understands the strengths and weaknesses of each output.
  • 5Adjust your evaluation approach based on the evolving performance of the AI models.

Requirements6

  • 1Hands-on experience with any major CAD suite: Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Onshape, Inventor, CATIA, or Creo.
  • 2Ability to articulate technical feedback clearly in both writing and conversation.
  • 3A working grasp of typical manufacturing processes, including subtractive or additive methods.
  • 4Experience with CAM or CNC workflows is a strong plus.
  • 5Comfort using and judging AI outputs is preferred; prior exposure to LLMs or generative tools helps.
  • 6Intermediate Python skills would set you apart, though they are not mandatory.

Who Should Apply

The ideal fit is a design engineer or machining specialist who enjoys digging into the why behind a manufacturing step. You should be comfortable writing precise, scannable feedback and willing to evaluate a high volume of AI-generated responses critically. This role is not for those who only model parts without understanding how they are made, nor for people who prefer open-ended design work over structured QA-style assessments. Many applicants fail because they list CAD proficiency but can't demonstrate hands-on process insight, or they give one-line answers instead of detailed technical reasoning. If you can't commit to consistent weekly output and meet tight deadlines, this won't work either.

Salary Insight

The advertised rate is $50-$100 per hour, though earnings are tied to task completion. Each approved deliverable pays out individually, making your final hourly take dependent on speed and quality. A weekly minimum number of submissions is required to remain active.

Application Tip

Share a concrete moment where your CAD expertise resolved a real manufacturing problem, such as redesigning a part for CNC production or catching a tolerance issue. Use precise language and mention any experience with CAM/CNC or Fusion 360 in your resume and screening answers, as these signals carry the most weight.
