Overview

This role is for junior engineers who want to work directly with customer data. You will help bring data into the platform, write scripts, and fix issues alongside core Forward Deployed Engineers. The work starts with clear tasks and grows into more technical ownership. You will use Python, SQL, and data workflows to make ingestion reliable. The position is remote and paid hourly, with weekly hours agreed upfront.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Guide customers through data preparation, transfer, and validation so their data lands correctly in the platform.
  • 2Write and refine scripts, integrations, and automations that speed up and stabilize data ingestion.
  • 3Debug problems with APIs, data formats, and transfer processes, leaning on core FDEs when needed.
  • 4Watch active workflows, spot missing pieces, and confirm that customer data is complete and accurate.
  • 5Talk with customers and internal teams to share progress and clear blockers.
  • 6Convert repeated problems into better tools, documentation, and reusable workflows.
  • 7Take on harder technical tasks as your skills and ownership expand.

Requirements8

  • 1Basic programming ability, including writing and debugging simple scripts in Python or a similar language.
  • 2Comfort with APIs, command-line tools, and Git.
  • 3A structured way to troubleshoot and a willingness to ask for help.
  • 4Strong ownership, dependability, and close attention to detail.
  • 5Clear written communication with customers and colleagues.
  • 6Ability to follow runbooks, notice when they fall short, and propose fixes.
  • 7Good judgment with sensitive data and production systems.
  • 8Curiosity, initiative, and a drive to take on more engineering responsibility.

Who Should Apply

This role fits junior engineers who have some Python scripting experience, know their way around APIs and Git, and want to work directly with customer data. You should be methodical when debugging and comfortable writing clear updates to customers and teammates. It is less suitable for someone who prefers purely independent work or has no interest in customer-facing tasks. Candidates often get rejected when they cannot show basic debugging skills or when they lack examples of handling sensitive data with care. Another common reason for low fit scores is not demonstrating how you follow runbooks and suggest improvements.
