UX Researcher (Behavioural, Anthropology, Ethanography)
Listing checked October 19, 2026 · pay as published by Talentxo
Overview
As a UX Researcher specializing in behavioral science, you will uncover the psychological drivers behind how people interact with fintech and digital financial products. The role centers on applying frameworks like Prospect Theory, Cognitive Dissonance, and System 1 & 2 to moderated interviews, surveys, and behavioral experiments. You will translate findings into personas, mental models, and journey maps that shape product design and business strategy. Working alongside design, product, and business teams, you will own end-to-end research that informs nudges, bias-aware recommendations, and experience improvements. The position sits within a leading NBFC and demands a blend of qualitative depth and quantitative rigor.
What You'll Do10
- 1Conduct moderated and unmoderated user interviews using psychological frameworks such as Prospect Theory, Cognitive Dissonance, and System 1 & 2 to reveal latent motivations and behavioral barriers.
- 2Design and analyze quantitative studies (surveys, questionnaires, experiments) grounded in models like Theory of Planned Behavior, Big Five Personality Traits, and Self-Determination Theory.
- 3Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to identify cognitive and behavioral patterns such as loss aversion, anchoring bias, and trust erosion.
- 4Translate research into structured outputs including personas, mental models, journey maps, and behavioral frameworks that predict user behavior.
- 5Test UI/UX prototypes through usability and concept validation studies using Figma, Maze, and UserTesting, applying models like Fogg’s Behavior Model.
- 6Own end-to-end research execution: study design, participant recruitment, psychometric segmentation, data analysis, and insight storytelling.
- 7Partner with design, product, and business teams to convert behavioral insights into bias-aware recommendations, nudges, and experience improvements.
- 8Monitor fintech and behavioral science trends (e.g., hyperbolic discounting, decision fatigue) through diary studies, ethnographic research, and secondary analysis.
- 9Support business KPIs such as conversion, engagement, retention, and trust through evidence-backed research inputs.
- 10Contribute to internal research standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Requirements11
- 12+ years of experience in Behavioral Research, Consumer Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Science, or Market Research, focusing on user motivations, decision patterns, and digital behavior.
- 2Hands-on experience with primary and secondary research methods, including qualitative and quantitative approaches such as interviews, ethnographic studies, surveys, behavioral experiments, and observational research.
- 3Experience analyzing user behavior patterns, engagement trends, and digital interaction journeys to generate insights that influence product design or feature development.
- 4Exposure to data analysis or data mining of user behavior datasets, combining research insights with behavioral data to identify patterns and opportunities.
- 5Strong understanding of behavioral science principles such as Cognitive Bias, Cognitive Dissonance, System 1 & 2 Thinking, Decision Science, or Consumer Psychology.
- 6Experience testing concepts, prototypes, or product ideas through usability testing, concept validation, or behavioral experimentation.
- 7Ability to synthesize research findings into actionable insights, hypotheses, and recommendations for product, design, or business teams.
- 8Basic understanding of UI/UX and digital product journeys, including how users interact with mobile apps or web platforms.
- 9Background in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnography, Cognitive Science, or related fields (BA/MA/MSc/BSc).
- 10Candidates from B2C consumer product organizations (consumer tech, fintech, e-commerce, or digital platforms) where user behavior is closely tracked and analyzed.
- 11Exposure to behavioral experimentation, usability testing, journey analysis, or consumer psychology frameworks is preferred.
Who Should Apply
The role suits candidates with a background in behavioral science, psychology, or anthropology who have 2+ years of hands-on experience in consumer behavior research within B2C digital products. Someone who combines qualitative depth with quantitative analysis and can translate findings into product strategy will thrive here.
