Overview

A leading AI lab needs someone who can judge staged performance the way a director watches dailies. The team builds generative video models, and your job is to define what convincing acting, blocking, and screen direction look like once a model produces them. You set the quality bar for acting realism, continuity, and eyelines, then test early model output against that bar. The engagement runs full-time at about 40 hours per week on weekdays, remote from anywhere in the United States. Cincinnatus LLC hires you as a W-2 employee and places you with the lab's extended workforce.

What You'll Do8

  • Set the standards for acting realism, blocking, screen direction (the 180-degree rule and eyelines), and continuity, then critique existing evaluations against them.
  • Build a taxonomy of the ways generated performances fail, grouping errors by type so the team can track them.
  • Identify and curate strong examples of excellent and difficult dramatic performances and staging, and test early model output against those benchmarks.
  • Review generated scenes the way you would review dailies, then write actionable notes on performance, staging, and continuity.
  • Create your own samples with generative image and video tools so you can compare model output against a known reference.
  • Help define how human reviewers are vetted and calibrated so judgments stay consistent across the pool.
  • Review captioning guidelines to confirm that performance and directing nuance gets described with the right words.
  • Work with other experts to keep evaluations consistent and accurate as the model changes.

Requirements8

  • 7+ years of professional experience in film, television, theater, or animation.
  • Credits on 2+ professional films.
  • A background in at least one of these tracks: Film or Television Director or 1st Assistant Director; Animation Director or Character Animation Supervisor; Script Supervisor; or Performance Capture Director, Acting Teacher or Coach in film or theater.
  • A sharp eye for micro expressions, emotional beats, eyelines, continuity, and staging.
  • Hands-on use of generative image and video tools such as Runway, Midjourney, Sora, or Kling to build your own test samples.
  • Strong written communication, with the ability to turn acting, blocking, and directing detail into language for captions and evaluation templates.
  • Availability for about 40 hours per week on weekdays.
  • Nice to have: access to a 4K display for pixel-level review.

Who Should Apply

Directors, 1st ADs, script supervisors, animation supervisors, and performance capture or acting coaches with 7+ years in film, TV, theater, or animation and credits on at least two professional films. Candidates who already create test clips in Runway, Sora, Kling, or Midjourney and can write clear notes on staging and continuity will move to the front.

Salary Insight

Pay runs $70 to $110 per hour, and the wide band reflects seniority: candidates at the top usually bring 7+ years of credits plus a directing or script supervision background. The role is W-2 employment through Cincinnatus LLC, which means payroll and benefits come with the hourly rate rather than a contractor arrangement.

Application tip

Name your directing credits and the exact track you come from (1st AD, script supervisor, animation supervisor, performance capture), then list the generative video tools you have used and what you built with them. A short note on how you judge eyelines, continuity, or emotional beats gives reviewers a sample of the written notes you would produce on the job.
