Orthopedic Surgeon
Listing checked October 24, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Mercor is assembling board-certified orthopedic surgeons to grade health AI models for a leading AI lab. Your day centers on de-identified patient charts: you read the record, review two model answers to a clinical question in orthopedic surgery, and decide which response holds up. From there you write a structured rationale covering clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity. Errors that could put a patient at risk get flagged. Work happens remote, on flexible part-time hours, and the engagement pays hourly.
What You'll Do6
- 1Score AI answers to orthopedic surgery questions on clinical accuracy, patient safety, and fit with current standards of care
- 2Read de-identified patient charts and compare two model responses side by side to pick the stronger one
- 3Write structured rationales that explain your judgment on clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity
- 4Flag any answer with an error that could compromise patient safety
- 5Hold each response to the same standard of care you apply in practice
- 6Document your reasoning so reviewers can follow the decision
Requirements7
- 1MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- 2Board certification in ABOS Orthopaedic Surgery through an ABMS member board or the AOA
- 3Active, unrestricted US medical license
- 4Completed residency, plus a fellowship where your specialty requires one
- 5Currently seeing patients in the US, with at least one year of independent practice after training
- 6Three or more years of post-training experience strongly preferred
- 7Clear written communication and close attention to detail
Who Should Apply
Practicing, board-certified orthopedic surgeons who hold an unrestricted US license and want part-time remote work that puts their clinical judgment to use. Strong writers with an eye for detail will do well here, especially those with 3+ years past training.
