Overview

A top-tier artificial intelligence lab is assembling a select group of molecular biology experts to enhance the quality of training data for AI models that reason across the life sciences. In this fully remote, hourly contract role, you'll focus on designing DNA and RNA sequences — such as primers, plasmids, and repair templates — that are typically created before experiments. Work is expected to start immediately, with an initial 2–3 week engagement at $70–$120 per hour.

What You'll Do4

  • 1Create and review nucleic-acid sequences and constructs—including primers, plasmids, RNAs, and repair templates—drawing on your professional molecular biology experience.
  • 2Develop challenging, domain-specific tasks and produce accurate, well-documented solutions that serve as ground truth for training AI models.
  • 3Assess AI-generated outputs against expert-level solutions and give clear, written feedback on correctness, rigor, and reasoning.
  • 4Work alongside other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across training data.

Requirements4

  • 1Hands-on experience as a practicing or recently practicing molecular biologist, with a focus on designing nucleic-acid sequences prior to experimentation.
  • 2A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable venues such as Nature, bioRxiv, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, or eLife (include publication links in your application).
  • 3An advanced degree—PhD is strongly preferred—in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related life-science field.
  • 4Excellent written communication skills and the ability to clearly justify design choices.

Who Should Apply

This role is ideal for a molecular biologist with a PhD-level background who actively designs DNA/RNA constructs in their research. You should be comfortable creating rigorous tasks from scratch, critiquing AI outputs with scientific precision, and collaborating with a small, focused team. If you have a strong publication record and enjoy applying your expertise to improve AI systems, you'll fit right in.

Salary Insight

The role pays an hourly rate of $70.00 – $120.00, depending on experience and expertise.

Application Tip

When applying, include direct links to your published work on platforms like bioRxiv or PubMed, and highlight one or two specific examples where you designed complex DNA/RNA sequences—this will demonstrate your hands-on expertise and scientific rigor.
