Mechanical & CAD Expert | $80/hr Remote
Overview
This project focuses on building a benchmark dataset to assess how well AI models handle visual document understanding and instruction-following in the Mechanical & CAD domain. As an expert, you’ll craft complex, grounded tasks that come with clear, objective answer keys. It’s a part-time, remote gig (roughly 15–20 hours per week for candidates in the US or Canada) paying $80 per hour.
What You'll Do5
- 1Design and write detailed Mechanical & CAD tasks that require an AI model to interpret visual documents and follow precise instructions.
- 2Define unambiguous ground-truth outputs for each task, ensuring they can be objectively scored.
- 3Create scoring rubrics that leave no room for subjective interpretation, so model performance is measured consistently.
- 4Review and iterate on tasks to maintain high quality, diversity, and relevance within the Mechanical & CAD field.
- 5Collaborate remotely with the project team to align on task formats, difficulty levels, and coverage areas.
Requirements4
- 1Deep hands-on expertise in Mechanical & CAD—you should be comfortable reading and creating engineering drawings, schematics, or 3D models.
- 2Experience with visual document understanding or instruction-following evaluation tasks (e.g., benchmark creation, data annotation, or rubric design).
- 3Ability to break down complex technical requirements into clear, objective, and testable units of work.
- 4Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to ensuring tasks have exactly one correct interpretation.
Who Should Apply
We’re looking for Mechanical & CAD professionals who enjoy thinking about how AI models perceive technical visuals and written instructions. The ideal candidate is meticulous, enjoys puzzle-like design work, and can produce tasks that are both challenging and fair. If you’ve ever created rubrics or graded work in an engineering context, you’ll thrive here.
Salary Insight
The role pays $80 per hour, with an expected commitment of 15–20 hours per week (part-time).
Application Tip
When applying, highlight any past experience where you designed structured evaluation tasks—whether for academic grading, quality assurance, or AI training. A brief example of a task you’ve authored (with a rubric) will set your application apart.
