Overview

SME Careers, a fast-growing AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, seeks a Mathematics Specialist to contribute remotely to AI training initiatives. You will review AI training content and AI outputs, assess the quality of step-by-step reasoning, and provide expert feedback that helps models produce accurate, clearly explained results. Your work includes fact-checking quantitative information across sources and translating advanced theory into clear mathematical explanations and model solutions. There is currently no active project, but qualified experts will be contacted first when opportunities arise.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Design detailed AI training prompts and example responses across topics that span both pure and applied mathematics.
  • 2Review and annotate AI-generated solutions, focusing on step-by-step reasoning and mathematical correctness.
  • 3Evaluate multiple model outputs for accuracy and clarity, delivering precise feedback to guide future iterations.
  • 4Identify errors in calculations or assumptions and document findings to inform model improvement.
  • 5Fact-check quantitative claims across sources and craft rigorous mathematical explanations and sample solutions.
  • 6Rate competing responses based on correctness and reasoning quality to support model updates.
  • 7Collaborate with the expert network to align outputs with training goals and quality standards.

Requirements8

  • 1MS or PhD in mathematics, statistics, or a related field from a top 100 university.
  • 2Proficiency in both pure and applied mathematics, modeling, probability theory, and optimization.
  • 3Expert at fact-checking information using public sources across multiple domains.
  • 4Clear mathematical communication that translates theory into practical solutions for AI training.
  • 5Background in research, analytical writing, debate, programming, or mathematics.
  • 6English proficiency at C1 or higher with excellent writing skills.
  • 7For PhD holders: demonstrated development or critical review of complex math content (e.g., problem banks, proofs, textbook sections).
  • 8Bonus: data labeling, RLHF, or AI model evaluation experience.

Who Should Apply

Ideal candidates hold an MS or PhD in mathematics or statistics from a recognized university and can demonstrate deep mastery of theory and application. You thrive at fact-checking data across domains and producing precise, accessible mathematical explanations. This role suits researchers or writers with programming or analytical backgrounds who can contribute to AI model evaluation and labeling. It is less suitable for applicants lacking advanced mathematical training, strong English writing, or hands-on experience with AI training pipelines. Candidates who cannot provide concrete examples of mathematical content development or critical review may score low on fit.
