Lead / Senior AWS Solution Architect
Overview
This role owns the entire AWS practice end-to-end, from pre-sales discovery and solutioning through implementation, migration, and post-go-live support. You will lead and mentor the AWS delivery team, manage the AWS Partner relationship, and serve as the primary technical contact for customers. It is a hands-on leadership position requiring deep expertise in AWS architecture, migration, and operations.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead initial discovery calls with customers to understand business needs, current infrastructure, and cloud goals, translating them into technical solutions and cloud strategy.
- 2Design secure, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS architectures aligned with the Well-Architected Framework across compute, storage, networking, database, containers, serverless, and security domains.
- 3Plan and execute cloud migrations (rehost, replatform, refactor) using AWS-native and third-party tools such as AWS MGN, DMS, and Migration Hub.
- 4Act as the final technical escalation point for critical/complex issues; define and oversee incident management, RCA, and post-mortem processes for managed AWS environments.
- 5Own and maintain the organization's AWS Partner relationship, including partner tier requirements, certifications, competencies, and program funding (MAP, POA, etc.).
- 6Build, lead, and mentor the AWS engineering/architecture team (Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Support Engineers); define technical standards and delivery methodology.
- 7Create architecture diagrams, HLD/LLD documents, migration/implementation plans, and prepare Statements of Work (SOW) and cost estimates for AWS projects.
- 8Set up and refine monitoring, alerting, cost governance, and security compliance practices across managed AWS accounts.
Requirements8
- 110+ years in IT infrastructure/cloud, with 8+ years specifically as an AWS architect/lead, ideally within an AWS Partner / MSP / consulting environment.
- 2Proven experience owning the full lifecycle: pre-sales discovery → estimation → architecture → implementation → migration → support/escalation.
- 3Strong hands-on expertise across core AWS domains: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK, CI/CD pipelines, and migration tools.
- 4Experience with cost estimation tools (AWS Pricing Calculator, TCO tools) and preparing client-facing proposals/SOWs.
- 5AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (required); AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional strongly preferred.
- 6Demonstrated experience handling production escalations and leading incident/RCA processes.
- 7Prior experience leading or mentoring a technical team.
- 8Excellent client-facing communication skills — comfortable presenting architecture and cost decisions directly to customer stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for an experienced AWS Solutions Architect who thrives on end-to-end ownership of cloud projects and enjoys both technical delivery and client engagement. You should have a strong consulting background, preferably within an AWS Partner or MSP, and be ready to build and lead a team while managing the business aspects of an AWS practice.
