Overview
Building a new library of fund accounting and investment operations work products means you'll take real-world scenarios generated from mock ledgers, custodian statements, and corporate action notices. Each exercise asks you to produce the exact analyst deliverable you'd generate in a live fund admin role, and your output gets scored against a rubric. The position is contract-based at roughly 15 hours per week, fully remote and US-based, with compensation from $75 to $110 an hour depending on experience.
What You'll Do4
- 1Tie out the general ledger to statements from custodians or banks. Pinpoint every unmatched item, explain why it's off, and prepare the final reconciliation sign-off with the necessary adjusting entries.
- 2Break down net asset value changes across investment positions. Highlight components that exceed tolerance levels and write a clear commentary on what caused the movement.
- 3When two systems record a trade differently, investigate the discrepancy. Determine the root cause, classify the type of break (price, quantity, commission, etc.), propose a fix, and document the process in a detailed investigation narrative.
- 4Handle corporate actions such as dividends, splits, or mergers by calculating each account's entitlement. Manage payment and transfer exceptions, whether that means repairing the record, returning the item, or escalating it, and clean up messy merchant or vendor descriptors into a standard registry.
Requirements4
- 1Three or more years working in fund administration, investment operations, trade support, or corporate actions, ideally at a fund administrator, custodian, or asset manager.
- 2Real hands-on experience running reconciliations, tracking NAV, spotting trade breaks, or resolving payment exceptions.
- 3Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate large datasets, use formulas, and build spreadsheets.
- 4A CPA, IOC, or similar designation is a plus, as is familiarity with fund accounting systems such as SS&C, Geneva, Multifonds, or InvestOne, or experience with SWIFT and settlement platforms.
