Investment Finance Expert - Remote Contract
Listing checked September 17, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Mercor seeks finance practitioners to author and judge training tasks for AI agents. You will pull real scenarios from your domain, covering areas such as M&A valuation, LBO modeling, FP&A, private credit, and risk work, then build models, memos, filings, and data sets that support those problems. The work centers on judgment and authorship, not volume processing. You set the analytical bar, write tasks, and score agent output against professional standards. A commitment of at least 10 hours per week keeps the project moving.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design complex finance scenarios from your own practice, spanning M&A, private equity, private credit, corporate finance, or risk.
- 2Build supporting materials such as three-statement models, DCF valuations, LBO analyses, merger models, memos, filings, and data sets.
- 3Write finance tasks that ask AI agents to perform modeling, diligence, valuation, forecasting, or risk judgment.
- 4Evaluate agent responses for errors in assumptions, calculations, accounting treatment, or investment conclusions.
- 5Defend your task design and scoring rubric with clear references to market practice and regulatory rules.
- 6Partner with researchers to expand domain coverage and adjust task difficulty.
- 7Review materials for consistency with US GAAP, IFRS, Basel, or SEC reporting requirements where relevant.
- 8Maintain a record of authored tasks and evaluation notes for quality checks.
Requirements7
- 13+ years of recent, hands-on finance experience at a recognized institution: investment bank, asset manager, PE or credit fund, Big Four firm, large corporate finance team, or financial regulator.
- 2Active work in the field today, with direct ownership of models, diligence, valuations, forecasts, or memos.
- 3Command of Excel and financial modeling, plus relevant platforms such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, data rooms, ERP or consolidation systems, or quant and risk tools.
- 4Ability to commit at least 10 hours each week.
- 5A track record of constructing complex problems rather than processing high volumes of routine tasks.
- 6Experience across two or more finance disciplines, or on both the buy side and sell side, is a plus.
- 7An advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) or credential such as CFA, CPA, or FRM is preferred, not required.
Who Should Apply
The right fit is a finance practitioner with 3+ years at a bank, fund, Big Four firm, corporate finance group, or regulator, and someone who still works in the field. You have built the model behind a live deal, led diligence, defended a valuation to an investment committee, owned a forecast cycle, or written a memo others relied on. Senior titles such as VP, Director, Principal, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Controller, or CFO signal strong fit, and this role suits candidates who can invent a hard problem and explain the correct answer. It fits less well if you execute routine volume, lack recent deal or investment ownership, or cannot show current tools like Excel, Bloomberg, or Capital IQ. Applications often score low when experience sits outside finance, when examples stay vague, or when the candidate cannot name the decisions they drove.

Mercor
VerifiedNon-Investment Finance Expert - Remote Contract
Frontier AI teams need finance work that matches what senior practitioners produce, and Mercor is hiring experts to create and judge that output. You will work through document-heavy cases filled with messy source files, distractors, and incomplete guidance, then either build the deliverable or assess an AI attempt against a professional standard. The projects span PnL and mark-to-market reconciliations, three-statement models, covenant and credit analysis, and partnership allocations such as profit-pool waterfalls. Expect hands-on finance craft where your judgment sets the quality bar.

AfterQuery
VerifiedFinance Expert - Early Career Remote Contract

Projects run on a flexible, self-paced schedule, with about 10 to 15 hours per week when active. The listing notes a 40-hour weekly commitment and pay at $50.00 per hour. Mercor
VerifiedInvestment Banking & M&A - Finance Domain Expert
An AI lab building frontier models needs a senior finance practitioner to judge what correct financial reasoning looks like. You will work inside the client's own tools alongside their research and program management teams, reviewing finance knowledge tasks and writing instruction specs that define quality. Your background in investment banking or M&A matters more than general business experience, since the models must handle real professional work. Employment is full-time W-2 through Cincinnatus LLC, based in the Bay Area with on-site presence required multiple days each week.

Mercor
VerifiedInvestment Banking Expert - Remote Part-Time
Mercor keeps a standing pool of investment bankers who help grade and improve frontier AI models. You join a network, not one specific project, and clients draw from it when they need banking judgment. Assignments can involve building a three-statement model and an LBO from filings, then writing the rubric a grader uses. Other work includes reviewing AI-generated comps and precedent transactions or scoring model-drafted pitch material against what an MD would send. Rates have landed between $100 and $130 an hour, set by project scope.

Micro1
VerifiedInvestment Banking Expert – Remote Contract
micro1 is hiring Investment Banking Experts for a contract role that supports a client's initiative to improve financial data analysis, modeling, and industry research. You will use your deal experience to help train next-generation AI systems, shaping how models learn and reason from real-world financial input. The work centers on financial modeling, comparable company analysis, and pitchbook preparation. No AI background is needed. Your domain knowledge is the key contribution.

AfterQuery
VerifiedGeneral Finance Expert - Remote Contract
AfterQuery seeks finance specialists to shape how AI systems reason through financial questions. You write demanding prompts across financial modeling, valuation, accounting, corporate finance and markets. Then you judge model answers for accuracy, logic and hidden mistakes such as miscalculated ratios or wrong cash flow assumptions. The contract operates on a remote schedule at 40 hours per week, and you complete an assessment before anyone reviews your application.
