Overview
micro1 is hiring contractors to support a client project that trains AI models to read and reason about complex charts. You will spend your time interpreting candlestick charts, yield curves, control charts, Pareto charts, and other financial or operational visuals, then turning that analysis into clear questions and answers. No background in AI is needed. What matters is your ability to explain quantitative reasoning in precise English and to spot details like units, scales, and timeframes. The work is fully remote and you will collaborate with a project team through written and verbal feedback.
What You'll Do7
- 1Read and explain financial and operational charts, including candlestick charts, yield curves, drawdown charts, market-volume charts, control charts, Pareto charts, process flows, and capacity or throughput charts.
- 2Create objective reasoning questions tied to complex visualizations that demand multi-step quantitative analysis rather than surface-level reading.
- 3Provide unambiguous answers with full written explanations, showing each analytical step or calculation in professional English.
- 4Use correct financial, economic, and operational terms while keeping units, scales, timeframes, categories, and notation consistent across every submission.
- 5Build tasks that target graphical reasoning, comparisons, trend analysis, calculations, and interpolation, and avoid subjective or vague language.
- 6Work with remote project teams, give and receive feedback in written and verbal formats, and keep contributions reliable and consistent.
- 7Produce objectively verifiable tasks that support the development, training, and evaluation of advanced AI models.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 2At least two years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting financial market data, risk metrics, or operational performance charts.
- 3Advanced skill in reading chart features such as axes, units, legends, scales, and annotations across many chart types.
- 4Proven ability to explain analytical processes and quantitative reasoning in both written and spoken English.
- 5Bilingual proficiency in English and ideally a second language relevant to finance or operations.
- 6Experience with technical documentation, financial reporting, process or quality assessment, or structured analytical task creation.
- 7Background producing data-annotation tasks, benchmark questions, technical reports, or similar deliverables for finance, operations, or AI-driven projects.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate has a finance, economics, or operations background and at least two years of hands-on chart interpretation, plus a knack for writing precise questions and explanations. You should be comfortable working remotely and giving clear written feedback. This role is less suitable for someone who prefers creative or open-ended analysis, because every task must be objectively verifiable and free of ambiguity. Candidates often get rejected when they submit questions that are too subjective or when they skip showing the calculation steps. Another common reason for low fit scores is inconsistent use of units, scales, or terminology across submissions.
Salary Insight
The pay range is $25 to $50 per hour. The final rate depends on your experience and the project scope, and it will be discussed during the hiring process.
