Overview
micro1 seeks Financial Aid Advisors to evaluate and improve AI systems on federal student loan topics. You will apply your borrower counseling background to verify that sample questions reflect real borrower concerns and that AI-generated answers are accurate and helpful. The project runs on a short-term basis, 15-25 hours per week, and you can work remotely. No prior AI experience is required; your domain knowledge in repayment, PSLF, and default is what matters.
What You'll Do5
- 1Examine sample student loan questions and identify any that do not match what actual borrowers ask.
- 2Create rubrics that specify what a correct, complete answer looks like for federal loan repayment, including income-driven repayment (IDR) plans and forgiveness programs such as PSLF.
- 3Include servicer issues, deferment and forbearance, and default management in your rubrics.
- 4Assess AI-generated answers against your rubrics, noting errors, missing information, and outdated guidance.
- 5Provide clear written feedback to the project team, working asynchronously.
Requirements7
- 1Direct experience counseling borrowers on federal student loan repayment and forgiveness, such as working as a nonprofit counselor or in a university financial aid office.
- 2At least 1 year of experience advising on IDR plans, PSLF, or other repayment and relief options.
- 3Background that goes beyond award packaging, covering areas like repayment, forgiveness, servicer issues, or default resolution.
- 4Working knowledge of loan servicing, deferment, forbearance, and default.
- 5Must be based in the US.
- 6Available to start soon and commit 15-25 hours per week.
- 7Strong, precise writing skills.
Who Should Apply
This role fits someone with hands-on experience guiding borrowers through federal loan repayment, forgiveness, and default resolution. If you have at least a year advising on IDR or PSLF and can write clear, accurate feedback, this project needs your expertise.
