Data Engineer — Finance | $60-$85/hr Remote
Overview
This role places you inside the finance division of a rapidly expanding AI company, where you'll build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers the CFO's decision-making. As part of a lean, high-impact team, you'll own everything from pipeline construction to troubleshooting, ensuring financial data flows reliably. It's a six-month full-time onsite contract with potential to extend, based in one of three major US tech hubs.
What You'll Do5
- 1Design and maintain PySpark-based pipelines to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial data.
- 2Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, join, and validate large financial datasets.
- 3Collaborate with both finance leaders and engineering peers to translate vague requirements into dependable data infrastructure.
- 4Proactively identify and resolve pipeline failures, taking full ownership of data quality from source to reporting.
- 5Support the finance team's roadmap by doing whatever it takes — from ad hoc analysis to system improvements — to keep operations moving.
Requirements6
- 12–4 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on building production data pipelines.
- 2Proven hands-on expertise with PySpark and large-scale or distributed data processing frameworks.
- 3Strong SQL proficiency — you will face two technical screens directly testing your querying skills.
- 4Willingness to work onsite full-time in San Francisco, New York, or Bellevue.
- 5A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 6Excellent written communication and the ability to work independently while owning critical data flows.
