Listing checked October 24, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Mercor places board-certified critical care physicians on a project with a leading AI lab, where your clinical judgment becomes the check on machine-generated answers. You read de-identified patient charts, then score AI responses to critical care questions against the chart and against current standards of care. Every rationale you write on clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity feeds directly into how these health models get better. Hours are flexible and part-time, the work happens remotely, and the start date is immediate.
What You'll Do7
- 1Score AI answers to critical care questions for clinical accuracy, patient safety, and fit with current standards of care
- 2Read de-identified patient charts and compare each AI response against the documented facts
- 3Choose the stronger of two candidate answers and explain the reasoning behind the pick
- 4Write structured rationales that address clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity
- 5Call out errors that carry a real risk of harming a patient
- 6Apply critical care medicine expertise to spot gaps a non-clinician reviewer would miss
- 7Complete credential verification steps covering license status, board certification, training, and current practice setting
Requirements8

- 2Board certification in Critical Care Medicine through an ABMS member board (ABIM, ABA, ABEM, or ABS) or the AOA
- 3Active, unrestricted US medical license

- 5Currently seeing patients in the US, with at least one year of independent practice after training
- 6Three or more years of post-training experience strongly preferred
- 7Clear written communication and close attention to detail
- 8Willingness to sit a 25-minute conversational interview about your background, experience, and motivations
Who Should Apply
Practicing, board-certified critical care physicians who still see patients and want a remote, part-time way to apply that expertise to health AI models. Candidates with three or more years past training and a sharp eye for clinical detail will stand out.

Mercor
VerifiedCardiologist
Mercor places board-certified cardiologists alongside a leading AI lab to test health models on real clinical questions. You read de-identified patient charts, then judge competing AI answers in cardiology for accuracy, safety, and fit with current standards of care. Each judgment you record shapes how these AI models respond for clinicians and patients. The work runs remote and hourly, with part-time hours you arrange around your practice.

Mercor
VerifiedGeneral Physician
Mercor pairs experienced physicians with a leading AI lab to check how well health AI models handle diagnosis, clinical reasoning, and care workflows. You will review model outputs, score how each answer aligns with accepted medical practice, and write feedback that helps researchers see where a model fails. The work is part-time at 20 or more hours each week and runs for six weeks, with an immediate start. Candidates need an MD or DO, an active unrestricted US license, completed residency, and a current patient-facing practice.

Handshake AI
VerifiedPhysicians
Handshake AI hires physicians to shape how large models handle clinical reasoning. You bring real practice experience in acute care, surgery, or a related specialty and turn it into expert tasks that current models fail, then judge what those models produce. Work covers the arc of a real case: diagnosis, differential reasoning, imaging and test interpretation, treatment planning, and procedural calls. Assignments run on a project basis with no fixed schedule, so you set your own hours alongside a current practice. The program stays open year-round and new projects open as specialty needs come up.

Mercor
VerifiedInfectious Disease Physician
Mercor works with a leading AI lab to test how well health models handle infectious disease cases, and the team needs board-certified ID physicians to serve as reviewers. Your day centers on de-identified patient charts: you read the record, then judge an AI answer against it for accuracy, safety, and fit with current standards of care. Plenty of tasks ask you to compare two model responses and pick the stronger one. You then write a short rationale that explains your call on clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity. Work runs remote on flexible part-time hours, and the project starts right away.

Mercor
VerifiedPsychiatrist
Mercor partners with a leading AI lab to test health models before they reach clinicians and patients, and this role puts a practicing psychiatrist at the center of that review. You read de-identified patient charts, then judge how well AI answers hold up against current standards of care in psychiatry. Each judgment needs a written rationale covering clinical rigor, completeness, and clarity. The work runs remote on flexible part-time hours, with an immediate start once credential checks clear.

Mercor
VerifiedMedical Expert (M.D./D.O.) - Remote Part-Time
Mercor keeps this listing open for physicians who want to shape how frontier AI models handle clinical reasoning. The work fits around your practice: you might write a clinical vignette from a real case, complete with presentation, labs, and imaging, then supply the attending-level answer used as a reference. Other projects ask you to grade model output on diagnostic reasoning, checking whether a differential follows a sensible order, whether the model anchors on a first impression, and whether the proposed workup matches guidelines. You also flag recommendations that read well in a textbook but fail the patient in front of you because of comorbidities, contraindications, or access limits. Projects start on short notice, so Mercor draws from this pool when client demand matches your specialty.
