Overview
Handshake AI seeks chemists for part-time, project-based work that improves how AI models handle chemistry. You will build expert-level problems and scenarios from real simulation, modeling, and reaction workflows. Then you review AI-generated answers for technical accuracy and reproducibility, and write structured feedback that shows where the model misses how chemists work in practice. The schedule is yours: no set hours and no minimum time commitment. This ongoing fellowship runs alongside your current role.
What You'll Do5
- 1Create expert-level computational chemistry problems and scenarios that reflect real simulation, modeling, and reaction workflows.
- 2Assess AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, reproducibility, and fidelity to actual chemistry practice.
- 3Write structured feedback that explains errors, gaps, and improvements in model output.
- 4Apply hands-on knowledge from computational, physical, or theoretical chemistry to guide evaluation.
- 5Work at your own pace with no fixed schedule or minimum hour requirement.
Requirements9
- 1PhD in computational, physical, or theoretical chemistry. An MS with pharma or materials industry experience also qualifies.
- 2First-author publications or a record of running production-scale simulation or DFT workflows.
- 3Depth in one of these areas: quantum chemistry with Gaussian, ORCA, Psi4, or VASP; molecular dynamics with GROMACS or LAMMPS; cheminformatics with RDKit plus reaction and thermodynamic modeling.
- 4Mexican work authorization.
- 5Strong written communication and close attention to detail.
- 6Ability to explain complex chemistry concepts in clear terms.
- 7Ability to work on your own in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- 8Candidates who meet at least two of the three main qualifications should apply.
- 9Optional strengths: experience with multiple quantum chemistry, MD, and cheminformatics platforms; production simulation or DFT pipelines in pharma, materials, or energy research.
Who Should Apply
Chemists with a PhD in computational, physical, or theoretical chemistry, or an MS plus pharma or materials industry experience, fit this fellowship. Depth in quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, or cheminformatics matters, as does Mexican work authorization. Meeting two of the three main qualifications is enough to apply.
Salary Insight
Pay is $42.00 per hour. The role asks for a PhD or an MS with pharma or materials experience, so the rate reflects expert-level contract compensation for part-time AI training work rather than general annotation.

Application Tip
Name the exact quantum chemistry, MD, or cheminformatics tools you use, such as Gaussian, GROMACS, or RDKit, and quantify a production-scale simulation or DFT workflow you have run. If you meet at least two of the three main qualifications, state those matches near the top of your application.
