Business & Sales Operations Domain Expert | $60-$100/hr Remote
Overview
Sales operations and revenue operations expertise will drive this role at a leading AI lab. You will assess the quality of business operations tasks and model outputs, write instruction specs and golden solutions, and design benchmarks that measure real model improvement. The position is full-time W-2 employment through Cincinnatus LLC, with daily work inside the client's own tools alongside research and program management teams. It is a hybrid Bay Area role: you need to live in or relocate to the Bay Area and work on-site several days a week. This is not remote, and relocation is at your own expense.
What You'll Do5
- 1Review business and sales operations tasks and model answers for missing behaviors, weak reasoning, bad assumptions, numbers that do not reconcile, and polished responses that would fail a real operating review.
- 2Write detailed instruction specs and golden reference solutions that define correct output for operations problems, and create new task types based on how the work happens in practice.
- 3Build challenging evaluation sets and benchmark tasks in your domain, and work with researchers to develop domain-specific skills and tooling.
- 4Calibrate quality standards with client researchers and adjacent specialists, converting tacit operating judgment into explicit, teachable evaluation criteria.
- 5Deliver clear written feedback on model outputs and task quality, with examples and reasoning that researchers can act on.
Requirements7
- 14+ years owning a business, revenue, or sales operations function at a recognized organization, with progression to Manager, Senior Manager, Director, VP, COO, or President.
- 2Deep specialization in at least one area such as sales operations, revenue forecasting, CRM and go-to-market systems, pricing and deal desk, supply chain planning, business analytics, or process improvement.
- 3Hands-on professional use of large language models, plus the ability to distinguish a sound answer from a convincing but wrong one.
- 4Bachelor's degree; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 5Excellent written communication with precise, structured feedback.
- 6Able to commit 40 hours per week for a 6-month initial engagement.
- 7Live in the Bay Area and work on-site multiple days per week; willing to relocate at personal cost if not already there.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a practicing operations leader who has owned a budget, team, or function and can turn that experience into explicit evaluation criteria for AI models. This person enjoys close collaboration with researchers and can defend why one operations answer beats another. The role is less suitable for individual salespeople without operations ownership, for remote-only workers, and for anyone unwilling to work on-site in the Bay Area. Candidates often get rejected when they lack a clearly defined operations domain or when their background is only quota-carrying sales. Another common rejection point is not being Bay Area-based or not committing to relocation before the engagement starts.
Salary Insight
The pay is $60.00 to $100.00 per hour on a W-2 basis. That range matches senior operations leaders and reflects the requirement to work on-site in the Bay Area, where comparable contract rates commonly sit in the upper end of this band. Pay and benefits are administered by Cincinnatus LLC, not Mercor.

Application Tip
Before you apply, prepare a short portfolio showing how you have used large language models in your operations work, such as prompt templates, evaluation rubrics, or before-and-after examples of model outputs you corrected. Quantify the scope of the operations function you owned, including team size, budget, or revenue impact, and name your specific domain, such as sales territory design or revenue forecasting.
