Overview
micro1 is hiring law students and recent JD graduates with law journal experience for a legal citation project. You will review Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics, flag unclear rules, and create sample cite-checking tasks that include realistic errors, correct answers, and explanations. The work is remote and contract-based, with pay between $50 and $80 per hour. No prior AI experience is needed; your Bluebook fluency and editorial judgment are what matter.
What You'll Do7
- Examine existing Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics and point out rules that are vague, missing, or likely to be applied differently by different editors.
- Spot edge cases the rubrics do not address and suggest how they should be handled.
- Build sample cite-checking exercises: pair source material with citations that contain realistic errors, then provide the correct answer and an explanation of the relevant rule.
- Design tasks that span a range of citation types and difficulty levels, from simple formatting mistakes to subtle pincite and source-support issues.
- Apply Bluebook rules the same way across every submission.
- Escalate ambiguous cases to project coordinators rather than resolving them on your own.
- Deliver assigned work on schedule and at the required quality level.
Requirements7
- Current law student (2L or 3L) or recent JD graduate.
- Law review or law journal experience, ideally in a cite-checking or source-collection role.
- Solid working knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.
- Ability to explain why a citation is wrong, not just that it is wrong; the reasoning matters as much as the correction.
- Careful and consistent through long sessions of detailed review work.
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines without close supervision.
- Experience as a journal editor, articles editor, or executive editor is a plus.
Who Should Apply
Law students (2L or 3L) and recent JD graduates who have cite-checked for a law review or journal and know The Bluebook well. You should be able to explain citation errors clearly and stay consistent through repetitive review work.
Salary Insight
The rate is $50 to $80 per hour, as stated in the job posting.
Application tip
When describing your law journal experience, name the specific Bluebook rules you have applied (e.g., pincites, short forms, signals, parentheticals) and note the volume of citations you checked. If you held an editor title, state it. The screening questions and AI interview are your chance to show rule-based reasoning, so walk through why a citation is wrong, not just what the fix is.
