Agentic Life Science Expert
Listing checked October 1, 2026 · pay as published by Turing
Overview
Turing seeks life sciences researchers with serious computational skills to build realistic tasks for AI agents. You will design workflows where an agent must navigate data, run code, use computational tools, fix intermediate problems, and deliver scientifically sound results. The goal is to test whether AI can carry out real multi-step scientific work, not just answer questions. Tasks run inside controlled, network-isolated sandboxes and need to be self-contained and reproducible, often using Python, command-line tools, scientific libraries, or domain software. Your work shapes how agentic systems are evaluated across fields like bioinformatics, computational genomics, and biostatistics.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design difficult, realistic agentic workflows that span multiple life science domains.
- 2Build tasks that require several computational steps instead of a single script or a question-answer response.
- 3Produce realistic input files, scientific datasets, instructions, constraints, and expected deliverables.
- 4Write tasks where agents must inspect data, choose methods, run analyses, fix issues, and combine results.
- 5Create reproducible expert solutions and objectively verifiable ground truths that execute in the sandbox.
- 6Define automated or semi-automated grading criteria that hold up under review.
- 7Make sure each task measures scientific reasoning and execution rather than memorization.
- 8Check scientific assumptions, calculations, code, intermediate outputs, and final answers.
- 9Keep every task self-contained and runnable in controlled, network-isolated computational environments.
- 10Sustain high quality and throughput while acting on reviewer feedback.
Requirements7
- 1Ph.D., postdoctoral, or equivalent research experience in the life sciences.
- 2Demonstrated computational and scientific-programming ability, especially in Python.
- 3Hands-on experience performing multi-step computational scientific analyses.
- 4Proven capacity to validate scientific reasoning and computational outputs on your own.
- 5Mastery of multi-step computational scientific analysis.
- 6Experience with scientific libraries and command-line tools.
- 7Track record creating reproducible research pipelines.
Who Should Apply
This role fits researchers who hold a Ph.D. or postdoctoral background in the life sciences and have spent real time writing Python and running multi-step computational analyses. You should be comfortable validating both the science and the code, and able to turn genuine research workflows into bounded tasks with clear, gradable outputs. Candidates with expertise in areas like bioinformatics, computational genomics, structural biology, or computational drug discovery will find the work especially relevant, as will anyone who has built reproducible research pipelines. The role is less suitable for people whose experience is mainly wet-lab or who rely on single-script analyses. Applicants often get rejected because they cannot show multi-step computational work or because their tasks lack objectively verifiable ground truths. Failing to account for network-isolated sandbox limits is another common reason fit scores drop.

Turing
VerifiedAgentic Life Science Expert - Remote Computational Biology
Turing needs life sciences researchers who can turn authentic scientific workflows into structured tasks that AI agents execute from start to finish. You will build challenges where an agent inspects data, writes and runs code, picks the right computational method, troubleshoots midway failures, and lands on a defensible scientific result. Tasks live in controlled, network-isolated sandboxes, so everything from Python scripts to command-line tools and domain software must be self-contained and reproducible. Your work directly shapes how well AI systems handle real multi-step science rather than simple question answering. Expect to validate assumptions, code, and outputs, then package each task with verifiable ground truth and grading criteria.

Turing
VerifiedLife Sciences Subject Matter Expert - Biology
Turing builds training data and evaluation benchmarks for frontier AI labs, and the LifeSciBench team needs biologists who can turn real research into hard, defensible test problems. In this role you write graduate-level questions drawn from molecular biology, genomics, structural biology, and adjacent fields, then back each one with a reference answer that holds up under scrutiny. Work is fully remote, non-coding, and organized around a one-month contractor engagement with at least 40 hours per week and 4 hours of overlap with Pacific time.

Turing
VerifiedBioinformatics and Computational Genomics Expert
Turing is building GeneBench Pro, a benchmark that pushes frontier AI agents through genuine genomics analysis. You design the problems: self-contained scientific challenges where an agent gets a short prompt, raw data files, and a standard bioinformatics stack built on Python, PLINK 2.0, and common scientific libraries. Each task demands real judgment, such as spotting artifacts in messy data, revising an approach after intermediate results, and deciding when a conclusion holds up. Reference solutions must run inside that Python environment, and every output needs to be verifiable.

Micro1
VerifiedComputational Biology Expert
This role is all about bringing your deep computational biology expertise to the frontier of AI development. You'll help train next-generation AI systems by evaluating and annotating their outputs in real-world biology applications. If you're passionate about shaping how AI understands genomics, transcriptomics, and systems biology, this is your chance to make a direct impact.

AfterQuery
VerifiedScientific Computing Research Expert
AfterQuery builds a network of PhD-level and PhD-pursuing researchers who write and calibrate evaluation tasks for AI models. Your starting point is real computational work you have run, debugged, or been paid to do, such as data reduction, model fitting, simulation setup, instrument data processing, numerical solvers, or inverse problems. Tasks span life sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, mathematical sciences, and engineering sciences. Difficulty comes from the science itself, not from withheld information. You can take on tasks as an independent contractor, with Python as the core tool for running and debugging your own work.

Micro1
VerifiedComputational Biology Expert Focused on AI Training and Biomed Data
The role focuses on guiding AI training with real-world computational biology input. You’ll evaluate and annotate AI system outputs in genomics, transcriptomics, and systems biology contexts, then benchmark performance against concrete biological benchmarks. You’ll document findings clearly and share actionable feedback with cross-functional teams. This is a remote contractor position that leverages deep domain knowledge to influence how models reason about biological data. Python and Bash scripting underpin your day-to-day work.
