Listing checked October 19, 2026 · pay as published by Mercor
Overview
Mercor seeks UI/UX designers to support a research project for a leading AI lab. You will run real product design workflows on your own Mac and explain your choices as you work, helping the lab benchmark and improve advanced AI models. The engagement runs part-time at about 10 to 20 hours per week, with a posted rate of $50 to $60 per hour. Tools such as Figma, Sketch, Framer, and Adobe XD sit at the center of the work. Mercor frames tasks in a structured way, with less pressure than an internship or full-time consulting role, and an immediate start is preferred.
What You'll Do7
- 1Complete UI/UX design tasks on your own Mac and walk through each decision as you work.
- 2Build wireframes, prototypes, and interface designs for web or mobile products.
- 3Apply design systems and document the reasoning behind layout, flow, and component choices.
- 4Use Figma, Sketch, Framer, or Adobe XD to produce work that feeds AI model training data.
- 5Explain tradeoffs in user flows, interaction patterns, and visual hierarchy during task sessions.
- 6Run usability checks or user research steps when the task calls for them.
- 7Record notes that tie each design step to the brief and the research goal.
Requirements7
- 1A MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor and macOS 15 or higher is mandatory. Mercor cannot review applicants who lack this setup.
- 22 to 3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors from a prestigious institution, or enrollment in or completion of a Masters program in HCI or design.
- 3Hands-on use of Figma, Sketch, Framer, or Adobe XD.
- 4Portfolio work that shows web or mobile interfaces, wireframes, prototypes, and design systems.
- 5You can explain design decisions in plain terms while you complete a design task.
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 7User research or usability testing experience adds weight to your application.
Who Should Apply
The role suits UI/UX designers with 2 to 3 years of product design work or postgrad HCI/design students who can show wireframes, prototypes, and design systems in a portfolio. You need your own Mac and a clear way to explain design decisions while you work.

Mercor
VerifiedGraphic Designers (Must own MacBook)
Mercor is staffing a research project for a leading AI lab, and the design work happens on your own Mac. You will move through real design tasks in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Affinity while talking through each choice, which turns your sessions into training data for AI models. The commitment runs about 10 to 20 hours a week, and an immediate start gets priority. Structure stays clear and the pressure stays low compared with an internship or a full-time consulting role.

AfterQuery
VerifiedExpert UI/UX Designer - Remote Contract Work
AfterQuery runs an expert data lab that supplies frontier AI labs with the evaluation and training sets they use to measure model skill on real professional work. This contract sits inside that pipeline. Designers write realistic product briefs, carry each one through to a finished interface, then judge how models handle the same task. Most of the craft happens in Figma, where you build auto layout and component setups the way a shipping designer would, and much of the value you add shows up in writing: critiques that explain why a screen works or falls apart. Pay runs from $60 to $120 per hour based on your background, sent weekly through Stripe, with self-set hours and a 10 hour weekly floor.

Mercor
VerifiedSenior Product Designer, UI/UX (Remote, US)
A leading AI lab needs senior product designers and design-minded engineers to shape how its models create for the web and games. You will work beside researchers to define what counts as excellent UI and UX, then build prototypes that demonstrate those standards. The role runs 40 hours per week on weekdays through Cincinnatus LLC, which employs you as a W-2 worker and places you with the lab's extended workforce. Day to day you may move between React with Tailwind, AI-native builders like Cursor, v0, Lovable or Bolt, and written critiques of AI-generated interfaces.

Mercor
VerifiedMechanical & CAD Engineers (Must own MacBook)
Mercor runs this research project alongside a leading AI lab, and the work sits inside real mechanical design practice. You open Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, or FreeCAD on your own Mac, model and draft the way you normally would, and narrate the reasoning behind each move. Those recorded sessions turn into training data that helps benchmark and sharpen advanced AI models. Plan on about 10 to 20 hours a week, with an immediate start on the table. Postgrad engineering students and engineers with 2 to 3 years of practice both fit the brief.

Mercor
VerifiedCivil Engineers & Architects (Must own MacBook)
Mercor is staffing a research project for a leading AI lab, and the lab needs people who actually do civil and architectural design work. You will run building, structural, and site tasks on your own Mac, then walk researchers through each choice as you make it. Expect about 10 to 20 hours a week with an immediate start. The software is whatever you already draft in: AutoCAD for Mac, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, or Rhino.

Mercor
VerifiedComputer Power Users & Automation Builders (Must own MacBook)
Mercor needs people who treat a Mac like a workshop, not just a browser. You will run real multi-app productivity and automation tasks on your own machine and narrate what you are doing, so a leading AI lab can benchmark and train its models on genuine workflows. The work leans on macOS, Shortcuts, AppleScript, and keyboard-first tools you already use every day. Expect a part-time load of roughly 10 to 20 hours a week, an hourly rate, and a structure far calmer than a consulting sprint or a packed internship. An immediate start is preferred.
