Overview

A leading AI lab needs senior product designers and design-minded engineers to shape how its models create for the web and games. You will work beside researchers to define what counts as excellent UI and UX, then build prototypes that demonstrate those standards. The role runs 40 hours per week on weekdays through Cincinnatus LLC, which employs you as a W-2 worker and places you with the lab's extended workforce. Day to day you may move between React with Tailwind, AI-native builders like Cursor, v0, Lovable or Bolt, and written critiques of AI-generated interfaces.

What You'll Do5

  • 1Work with AI researchers to map best UI and UX patterns, then translate them into principles and scoring rubrics.
  • 2Create interactive web prototypes in code or with AI-native tools such as Cursor, v0, Lovable or Bolt, covering many product categories.
  • 3Audit AI-produced interfaces and prototypes, and write precise feedback on layout, hierarchy, interaction, motion and visual finish.
  • 4Test visual styles, frameworks and animation methods across productivity tools, consumer apps and games.
  • 5Partner with designers and researchers to align standards and lift quality across the group.

Requirements6

  • 17+ years as a product designer, design lead, design engineer or creative front-end engineer at a product-led or design-led company such as Apple, Airbnb, Stripe, Figma, Linear, Spotify or Notion, or at a top design agency.
  • 2Hands-on prototyping skill: build working web prototypes in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Tailwind or with AI-native tools like Cursor, v0, Lovable, Bolt or Framer.
  • 3Strong foundation in user-centered design, interaction design and rapid prototyping.
  • 4Senior design judgment with the confidence to set direction and explain why a design works.
  • 5Available 40 hours per week during weekdays.
  • 6Clear written communication and ability to give precise, constructive design feedback.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate has at least seven years in product design, design engineering or creative front-end work at a product-led company such as Figma, Stripe or Airbnb, and can show web prototypes built in code or with tools like Cursor and v0. Strong applicants pair senior design judgment with clear written feedback about layout, motion and interaction, and they can commit 40 hours each week on weekdays. Motion, animation, 3D, WebGL or game design background helps, though none of those are mandatory. This role is less suitable for someone who produces static mockups and stops there, relies on others to build prototypes, or cannot explain design choices in writing. Candidates often score low when they show visual polish without user-centered reasoning, or when their portfolio lacks live, interactive web work that demonstrates rapid prototyping.

Salary Insight

The engagement pays $80.00 to $110.00 per hour as a W-2 role through Cincinnatus LLC. That range fits senior product design or design engineering work at a top AI lab, and it matches candidates with 7+ years of experience who can prototype in code and explain design decisions.

Application Tip

When you apply, include a live web prototype you built yourself in React or with Cursor or v0, and add a short written critique of that prototype that names specific choices in hierarchy, motion and layout. That combination proves the hands-on prototyping and written feedback skills the lab screens for.

Senior Product Design Engineer - Frontend, Bengaluru

This role blends product design and frontend engineering into one craft. You will prototype AI-native interactions directly in code, own the design system, and ship features inside a small pod with a PM and an engineering lead. Expect to work in React, HTML, CSS, and GitHub, building streaming states, transitions, and micro-interactions that resist full specification in a doc. You will also set guardrails so AI-generated code stays production-ready, and help other designers turn ideas into frontend-ready interfaces.

Expert UI/UX Designer - Remote Contract Work

AfterQuery runs an expert data lab that supplies frontier AI labs with the evaluation and training sets they use to measure model skill on real professional work. This contract sits inside that pipeline. Designers write realistic product briefs, carry each one through to a finished interface, then judge how models handle the same task. Most of the craft happens in Figma, where you build auto layout and component setups the way a shipping designer would, and much of the value you add shows up in writing: critiques that explain why a screen works or falls apart. Pay runs from $60 to $120 per hour based on your background, sent weekly through Stripe, with self-set hours and a 10 hour weekly floor.

Your work will include owning interaction and motion details such as loading states, streaming states, transitions, and micro-interactions. You will also contribute patterns and components back to the shared design system. The role focuses on dense interfaces like tables, forms, permissions, and multi-role flows, with opportunities to explore AI-native interactions.
