Overview

micro1 seeks experienced Systems Architects or Chief Systems Architects for an AI training project centered on real-world engineering workflows. You will apply your background in defining architectures and leading multidisciplinary teams to create realistic tasks, coordinate domain experts, and set technical objectives and evaluation criteria. Your work will help AI systems better reason about interfaces, dependencies, and engineering trade-offs. This is a contractor role, remote, with US-based candidates preferred but strong international experience considered.

What You'll Do6

  • Create realistic engineering projects that require architectural decisions across mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Convert project goals into system architectures with clear boundaries, subsystem responsibilities, interfaces, and technical constraints.
  • Split complex architectural problems into connected tasks, each with defined inputs, deliverables, dependencies, and expert roles.
  • Coordinate contributions from domain experts to ensure tasks reflect real engineering practice.
  • Establish technical objectives and evaluation criteria for AI training scenarios.
  • Review and refine architecture tasks to maintain technical accuracy and relevance.

Requirements4

  • Significant professional experience as a Systems Architect, Chief Systems Architect, or similar technical leadership position.
  • Demonstrated ownership of architecture for complex engineering systems and leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong expertise in system architecture design, technical trade studies, interface management, and architecture reviews.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Preferred Qualifications4

  • Master's degree or PhD in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering, SysML, or architecture modeling tools.
  • Experience guiding system architectures from concept through implementation, integration, and deployment.
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial systems, medical devices, or other complex engineering environments.

Who Should Apply

Systems Architects or Chief Systems Architects with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and owning complex system architectures. You should be comfortable with trade studies, interface management, and architecture reviews, and eager to apply that expertise to AI training.
