Strategy & Business Analysis Specialist | $40-$100/hr Remote
Overview
Your consulting or finance background gets put to a new use: training AI models to produce business deliverables that survive senior-level scrutiny. micro1 hires strategy and business analysis specialists for a remote contract open to candidates in North America and Europe. The job mixes creation with evaluation, so you will draft real-world strategy tasks and then judge AI outputs against detailed rubrics. Domain expertise matters more than AI familiarity, and the work leans on your existing toolkit: MECE thinking, board deck construction, and Excel modeling. You get paid per approved task, and the team often fills slots within 48 hours and expects your first tasks a day or two after onboarding.
What You'll Do6
- 1Author strategy and analysis assignments that recreate real business challenges, attaching source files like spreadsheets, PDFs, and raw data.
- 2Produce reference answers that would satisfy a senior executive, including board PowerPoints, investment committee memos, and detailed Excel models.
- 3Select analytical frameworks and apply MECE logic so each recommendation has a defensible basis.
- 4Build evaluation rubrics with over 35 checkpoints that grade AI output on structure, factual precision, and executive readiness.
- 5Document recurring strategy failures such as vague recommendations, broken logic chains, and metrics without a source.
- 6Review every deliverable for clean visual flow, accurate numbers, and a tone that belongs in the boardroom.
Requirements8
- 1About five years of experience in management consulting (MBB or tier-2 firms), investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or FP&A.
- 2Direct ownership of board-level decks, strategy recommendations, or investment committee memos that have been through senior review.
- 3Ability to construct financial models in Excel from scratch and run scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- 4Practical command of structured problem solving, including MECE, issue trees, and the pyramid principle.
- 5Clear, precise written and spoken English with a record of creating executive-facing documents.
- 6Comfort following house deck templates or standardized slide formats without losing analytical quality.
- 7Sector fluency in TMT, healthcare, consumer markets, or financial services is a plus.
- 8Prior rubric development or AI training involvement helps, but the absence of it will not hurt you.
Who Should Apply
People who have spent at least five years in consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy and can show artifacts they personally drove from blank page to boardroom are the right fit here. Analysts who only supported a lead on decks or models will find this role frustrating, because the job requires owning the final output and then grading someone else's ability to do the same. A common rejection reason is listing skills without attaching samples of board-level work or any sign of a MECE-based process. Another frequent miss is failing to state that you can carry the weekly minimum task load and start within 48 hours of onboarding, which micro1 treats as a hard requirement.
Salary Insight
Compensation shows as $40 to $100 per hour, but the structure is output-based: you are paid per task that passes review. Your real earnings depend on how fast you can produce approved assignments, and a weekly minimum task count applies. The posting does not list a per-task rate, so ask about that pricing once you receive the project brief.

Application Tip
In your application, attach two or three examples of board decks or investment memos you built from the ground up, and for each one write a line about the MECE framework and the Excel sensitivity analysis you used. Also state that you can begin your first task within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding and that you accept the weekly minimum submission rule.
