Senior Product Design Engineer - Frontend, Bengaluru
Listing checked September 18, 2026 · pay as published by Talentxo
Overview
This role blends product design and frontend engineering into one craft. You will prototype AI-native interactions directly in code, own the design system, and ship features inside a small pod with a PM and an engineering lead. Expect to work in React, HTML, CSS, and GitHub, building streaming states, transitions, and micro-interactions that resist full specification in a doc. You will also set guardrails so AI-generated code stays production-ready, and help other designers turn ideas into frontend-ready interfaces.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and build UI in the same motion, prototyping novel AI-native interactions directly in code instead of Figma-then-handoff
- 2Work inside a pod with a PM and an engineering lead, taking features from concept to shipped rather than handing off a spec and waiting
- 3Own interaction and motion details such as loading and streaming states, transitions, and micro-interactions
- 4Build and maintain shared UI components so teams across the org avoid reinventing patterns feature by feature
- 5Work directly in the production codebase
- 6Own the design system, including its components, patterns, and code
- 7Define how design work becomes a shipped interface for the rest of the team
- 8Set standards and guardrails so code generated with AI tools is production-ready, not bloated
- 9Help other designers close the gap between design and frontend-ready code
Requirements12
- 14+ years in product design with depth in dense interfaces such as tables, forms, permissions, and multi-role flows
- 2Real product and visual design judgment plus the ability to ship real frontend code
- 3Hands-on frontend engineering with a portfolio and GitHub showing shipped, interactive, polished products, not just mockups or case studies
- 4Design systems built and maintained at scale, in code
- 5Ability to direct AI tools to build and maintain prototypes that adhere to accessibility, component system, and other guardrails
- 6Experience or strong interest in AI-native interfaces: streaming output, agentic or human-in-the-loop UX, confidence and uncertainty in UI
- 7Career trajectory showing a transition from design to design-engineer, or from frontend engineering to design with retained engineering fundamentals
- 8B2B SaaS experience preferred
- 9Experience with React, HTML, CSS, and GitHub
- 10Excellent English communication and ability to articulate thought process
- 11Has owned and built design systems
- 12Bonus: worked somewhere small enough that design and engineering were not separate functions, with AI used structurally from ideation through implementation and review
Who Should Apply
Candidates with 4+ years in product design who also ship frontend code will fit this role best. The role suits someone whose portfolio and GitHub show interactive, polished products built with React, HTML, CSS, and GitHub, and who has owned a design system in code. Experience with dense interfaces like tables, forms, permissions, and multi-role flows matters, as does interest in AI-native patterns such as streaming output and human-in-the-loop UX. Designers who only dabble in code, or engineers who care about UI but lack product design depth, will likely score lower on fit.
