Overview
This role is for a Senior Backend Engineer to build core Node.js services and REST APIs from scratch, owning system design end to end. You will ship AI/ML-powered features including LLM and agentic capabilities, and use AI-native tooling across the development lifecycle.

- 1Design and build core Node.js services and REST APIs from scratch, built to scale.
- 2Own system design end to end: service boundaries, data flow, caching, queueing, failure modes, and scale.
- 3Ship AI/ML-powered features, including LLM and agentic capabilities.
- 4Use LLMs and agentic tooling across the SDLC, from design and code generation to testing and debugging.
- 5Model data and optimize SQL/NoSQL queries for performance; integrate with third-party platforms.
- 6Debug production issues, own reliability, and set the engineering standards the rest of the team will grow into.
Requirements6
- 16+ years building production backend systems in Node.js for B2C products at meaningful scale.
- 2Strong system design: can reason clearly about scalability, reliability, and trade-offs under real constraints.
- 3Strong grasp of API design, service-oriented architecture, data structures, algorithms, and clean code.
- 4Depth in SQL and/or NoSQL, data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- 5AI-native: already uses LLMs and agentic approaches to maximize efficiency as an engineer.
- 6Enjoys the pace and breadth of a small team; happy picking up whatever moves the product forward.
