Overview

Outlier needs PhD-level quantitative finance specialists to shape how advanced AI models reason about money, markets, and math. You will judge model output on quantitative and finance topics, write and answer expert questions, and rank competing answers. The engagement runs through the end of June with a chance to extend, and you set your own hours from wherever you work. Your background in stochastic modeling, derivatives pricing, or econometrics directly affects how these models handle domain-specific problems.

What You'll Do6

  • Check AI-generated text on quantitative and finance topics for factual accuracy and relevance to the prompt
  • Write expert questions in quantitative finance, financial modeling, and applied mathematics, then supply the correct answers
  • Score and rank model responses to domain-specific prompts using your own subject judgment
  • Flag subtle errors in quantitative reasoning that a non-specialist reviewer would miss
  • Explain in clear written English why a given answer falls short or holds up
  • Apply your research or industry background to test model reasoning against real finance practice

Requirements6

  • PhD completed or in the final stages in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, or a related quantitative field with a strong finance focus
  • Working command of quantitative methods such as stochastic modeling, derivatives pricing, econometrics, risk modeling, or computational finance
  • Sharp analytical eye for catching flaws in multi-step quantitative arguments
  • Fluent written English with the ability to state complex ideas plainly
  • Availability for a short-term engagement through the end of June
  • Residence in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or Argentina

Preferred Qualifications3

  • Research experience in academia or industry, including buy-side or sell-side quant roles
  • Prior work in data annotation or AI model evaluation
  • Record of reviewing or publishing research papers
