Junior Firmware Engineer
Overview
We're seeking a passionate Junior Firmware Engineer with 1–2 years of experience to join our engineering team. You'll develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products across industrial automation, IoT, fire & safety, and connected devices. Collaborating closely with hardware, software, Linux, and testing teams, you'll help deliver reliable, production-ready products. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn and grow into a complete embedded product development engineer.
What You'll Do11
- 1Develop and maintain firmware using Embedded C for microcontroller-based products.
- 2Write code for peripherals including GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DAC, PWM, Timers, RTC, Watchdog, USB, and Ethernet.
- 3Integrate sensors, displays, communication modules, and external memory devices into the firmware.
- 4Debug firmware with JTAG/SWD debuggers and lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- 5Participate in board bring-up, hardware validation, and firmware integration activities.
- 6Implement communication protocols and interface with external devices.
- 7Perform firmware testing, bug fixing, and performance optimization.
- 8Collaborate with hardware, Embedded Linux, cloud, mobile, and QA teams across the product lifecycle.
- 9Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and Agile development processes.
- 10Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and release notes.
- 11Support product verification, validation, manufacturing, and production releases.
Requirements12
- 11–2 years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development.
- 2Strong programming skills in Embedded C and a solid understanding of microcontroller architecture.
- 3Experience with one or more microcontroller families such as STM32, NXP LPC/Kinetis/i.MX RT, Renesas RL78/RX/RA, or TI MSP430.
- 4Proficiency in working with GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, DAC, PWM, Timers, RTC, Watchdog, DMA, and interrupt handling.
- 5Understanding of communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, USB, RS-232, and RS-485.
- 6Familiarity with RTOS concepts like FreeRTOS or Azure RTOS (ThreadX).
- 7Experience with IDEs such as STM32CubeIDE, Keil MDK, IAR Embedded Workbench, e² studio, or MPLAB X.
- 8Basic debugging using JTAG/SWD debuggers and Segger J-Link.
- 9Hands-on use of oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and multimeter for hardware debugging.
- 10Knowledge of flash memory, EEPROM, SRAM, and external memory interfaces.
- 11Understanding of bootloaders, firmware upgrade mechanisms, and in-application programming.
- 12Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills, plus effective communication and teamwork.
