Embedded Linux engineer
Overview
We're looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer with 2–4 years of experience to join our engineering team. You'll design, develop, and maintain Linux-based software for industrial and connected products, collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, cloud, and QA teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with system integration, debugging, and bringing products from concept to production.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and maintain Embedded Linux applications using C and C++.
- 2Customize Linux BSPs, kernel configurations, and Device Trees to support specific hardware.
- 3Develop and debug Linux device drivers for peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, and CAN.
- 4Configure and tailor Yocto/OpenEmbedded build systems for production-ready images.
- 5Support board bring-up, hardware/software integration, and debug kernel issues like boot failures, memory leaks, and driver problems.
- 6Integrate networking protocols (TCP/IP, MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH) and assist with OTA update implementations and Linux security features.
- 7Work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, cloud, mobile, and QA teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- 8Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile ceremonies; prepare technical documentation and release notes.
Requirements6
- 12–4 years of experience in Embedded Linux software development with strong C and C++ skills.
- 2Deep familiarity with the Linux kernel, system programming, and building BSPs using Yocto, BitBake, and OpenEmbedded.
- 3Hands-on experience developing device drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, USB, Ethernet, CAN, PWM, or ADC on ARM Cortex-A processors (e.g., NXP i.MX, STM32MP1).
- 4Solid understanding of the Linux boot process, Device Tree, U-Boot, and embedded storage (NOR Flash, NAND Flash, eMMC, Linux file systems).
- 5Proficiency with debugging tools like GDB, JTAG, strace, dmesg, and perf. Experience with Git and common Linux development tools.
- 6Knowledge of networking protocols and exposure to Docker, Jenkins, AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Who Should Apply
This role is perfect for a hands-on Embedded Linux engineer who thrives on solving complex low-level problems and enjoys working across hardware and software boundaries. You should be comfortable diving into kernel code, tweaking device drivers, and building custom Linux images with Yocto. A collaborative mindset, strong debugging instincts, and a genuine passion for embedded product development will help you succeed here.
