Outlier builds training data for AI companies that want machines to grasp how people actually speak, including tone, emotion, and intent. On this freelance project you record short clips in German, work through brief scripts in different moods and speaking styles, and sometimes listen back to audio and write down what you hear. Your voice becomes the reference material that teaches speech systems to read human expression. A quiet room, a steady internet connection, and real vocal confidence matter more here than an acting résumé.
What You'll Do7
- Record short audio clips in German using your natural speaking voice
- Perform brief scripts while shifting tone, emotion, and delivery style
- Listen to audio samples and note the details you detect in written form
- Capture observations in text so reviewers can compare and label clips
- Support AI research on how speech, tone, and expression come across to listeners
- Follow project instructions for microphone setup and recording quality
- Meet the pace and volume targets set for each batch of assigned work

- Native fluency in German
- Clear voice with audible expression and emotional range
- Access to a quiet space free of background noise for recording
- Dependable internet connection
