Overview
AfterQuery produces the expert evaluation data that frontier AI labs rely on to test how well their models reason inside real professional domains. In this role, biologists write and grade the life science scenarios those evaluations run on, covering everything from experimental design through interpretation of results. Every biology specialty has a place here, including genetics, ecology, microbiology, physiology, and evolution. Work happens on your own schedule, fully remote and async, with a floor of 10 hours per week and no ceiling.
What You'll Do7
- Compose realistic biology scenarios that a working scientist would actually reason through, spanning experimental design to interpretation of results
- Draft reference answers that lay out the mechanisms and evidence behind each conclusion
- Score model responses on mechanistic accuracy, how they handle evidence, and whether they express appropriate uncertainty
- Call out answers that sound polished but misstate the biology in ways only a trained scientist would notice
- Turn your own scientific judgment into clear, teachable written reasoning
- Work inside your specialty area on ongoing project work rather than one-off task batches
- Scale your weekly hours up or down as your schedule allows, above the 10 hour minimum

- Advanced degree in biology or a closely related field, or research experience that matches that level
- At least 2 years of work in research, industry, or teaching within the life sciences
- Recognized depth in one or more areas such as genetics, ecology, microbiology, physiology, or evolution
- Strong written English with the ability to document scientific reasoning step by step
- Availability for a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Comfort reasoning from mechanism and evidence rather than from textbook summaries
Who Should Apply
Researchers, industry scientists, and educators with an advanced biology degree and two or more years of professional experience who can defend a conclusion from mechanism and evidence. A PhD, peer reviewed publications, wet lab or field work, and teaching or science communication experience all strengthen a candidate's standing.
