Senior Software Engineer – C#(LLM Evaluation & Repository Validation)

Posted August 19, 2026
contract

Overview

This project builds LLM evaluation and training datasets that help models solve realistic software engineering problems. The work involves creating verifiable software engineering tasks from public repository histories using a synthetic, human-in-the-loop approach. Engineers analyze GitHub issues, set up Docker-based environments, and evaluate test coverage to judge model performance in bug-fixing scenarios. The role fits a tech lead-level engineer comfortable with C#, Git, and running complex codebases locally.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Triage and categorize GitHub issues from trending open-source libraries.
  • 2Set up code repositories and build Docker-based development environments.
  • 3Evaluate unit test coverage and overall test quality across projects.
  • 4Run and modify codebases locally to measure how well LLMs perform on real bug-fixing tasks.
  • 5Work with researchers to identify repositories and issues that are especially challenging for LLMs.
  • 6Lead a small group of junior engineers on collaborative project work.

Requirements8

  • 1Minimum 3+ years of overall professional software engineering experience.
  • 2Strong hands-on skills in C# (or another language, with C# as a required strength).
  • 3Solid understanding of Git, Docker, and standard software pipeline setup.
  • 4Ability to read, understand, and navigate complex codebases.
  • 5Comfortable running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally.
  • 6Previous open-source contribution or evaluation experience is a plus.
  • 7Familiarity with LLM research or evaluation projects is a plus.
  • 8Experience building or testing developer tools or automation agents is a plus.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate is a senior software engineer with at least 3 years of experience, strong C# skills, and a track record of working with complex open-source codebases. They should be comfortable with Docker and Git, and able to evaluate test coverage and run code locally to judge LLM performance. This role is less suitable for engineers who prefer pure feature development or who lack experience triaging issues and setting up dev environments. Candidates often get rejected when they cannot demonstrate hands-on navigation of large repositories or when they are unavailable for the required 4-hour PST overlap.
