Physics Expert Condensed Matter and Quantum Information
Overview
A remote contractor role focused on advanced physics tasks in condensed matter and quantum information. You’ll apply exact diagonalization methods to large systems, emphasizing translation and reflection symmetries, with a preference for QuSpin and L ≥ 26. You’ll build and navigate block-diagonal subspaces, assess overlaps with Z2 states, and provide detailed analytic inputs for benchmark projects on quantum many-body scars and constrained dynamics. Your deep domain expertise will inform how AI models learn from real physics data.
What You'll Do5
- 1Develop and test exact diagonalization workflows that exploit translation and reflection symmetries, prioritizing QuSpin and systems with length L at least 26.
- 2Create and manage block-diagonalized subspaces to improve computation efficiency while preserving fidelity in complex Hamiltonians.
- 3Compute overlaps with Z2 states and translate numerical results into physical interpretations for constrained quantum dynamics.
- 4Contribute written analyses, benchmark reports, and assessments related to quantum many-body scars and Rydberg blockade phenomena.
- 5Serve in roles such as Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator on the project based on subfield fit and seniority.
Requirements5
- 1PhD or equivalent experience in condensed matter physics, quantum information, or a closely related field.
- 2Proven track record with exact diagonalization techniques and use of QuSpin, including symmetry handling for large systems.
- 3Experience performing Hamiltonian block-diagonalization and working within large Hilbert subspaces.
- 4Strong knowledge of quantum many-body scars, Rydberg blockade, and constrained dynamics.
- 5Experience analyzing overlaps with Z2 or similar quantum states and interpreting numeric results.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a seasoned physicist with hands-on experience in exact diagonalization, symmetry-aware computations, and large-scale subspace management. If your background centers on condensed matter or quantum information and you can demonstrate practical results with QuSpin or equivalent tools, you’ll fit well. This role may be less suitable for someone without a strong track record in large-system diagonalization or without familiarity with Z2 state analysis. Common fit pitfalls include limited experience with symmetry-exploiting methods or insufficient exposure to constrained dynamics and quantum many-body scars.
