Senior Data Modeller (Microsoft Fabric)
Overview
Seeking a Senior Data Modeller to design enterprise data models using Microsoft Fabric and Medallion Architecture. The role involves creating conceptual, logical, and physical models for data onboarding and analytics, ensuring reusable and performant data structures for BI consumption. Ideal for a seasoned data professional with deep hands-on expertise in data modeling and modern lakehouse environments.
What You'll Do5
- 1Design conceptual, logical and physical data models for enterprise data onboarding and analytics use cases.
- 2Define modelling patterns for Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse and Power BI semantic consumption.
- 3Support the implementation of bronze, silver and gold data layers using Medallion Architecture principles.
- 4Design conformed dimensions, fact tables, reference data structures, master data views and analytics-ready datasets.
- 5Create source-to-target mappings and work with engineers to turn modelling designs into working data assets.
Requirements6
- 16+ years of experience in Data Modeling or Enterprise Data Architecture with strong hands-on expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- 2Hands-on experience designing data models on Microsoft Fabric, including Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse and OneLake, within a modern Lakehouse architecture.
- 3Strong hands-on dimensional modeling expertise including star schemas, fact tables, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), grain definition, business keys and surrogate keys.
- 4Proven experience designing data models across Bronze, Silver and Gold layers using Medallion Architecture principles.
- 5Strong SQL expertise with ability to read transformation logic, understand joins and aggregations, define source-to-target mappings, and validate implemented logic.
- 6Experience designing analytics-ready datasets for BI/reporting consumption and supporting semantic model design (e.g. Power BI), ensuring data structures are clear, performant and business-friendly.
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is an experienced data modeller with over 6 years of enterprise data architecture experience, particularly in Microsoft Fabric and Medallion Architecture. They have deep hands-on skills in dimensional modeling, strong SQL, and a proven ability to design reusable, business-aligned data layers and analytics-ready datasets. They collaborate effectively with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders and excel at documenting models and mappings.
