OpenSCAD Expert | $40-$120/hr Remote

Overview

This role involves using OpenSCAD expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. The contractor will lead parametric design projects, create reusable modules, and document their process to provide high-quality input for AI learning. The work is fully remote and contract-based, focusing on real-world CAD projects.

What You'll Do7

• 1Lead end-to-end OpenSCAD projects from requirements gathering to final model export for manufacturing or prototyping.
• 2Structure and document OpenSCAD scripts, defining robust parameters and reusable modules for efficient parametric design.
• 3Utilize Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) techniques to build complex 3D models and perform 2D-to-3D extrusions.
• 4Iterate rapidly on parametric models, demonstrating logical script-driven decision-making and engineering reasoning.
• 5Prepare and export files in STL, OFF, or other standard formats for compatibility with downstream manufacturing workflows.
• 6Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing detailed written and verbal explanations of the design process.
• 7Help shape AI learning by transparently revealing professional thought processes, trade-offs, and technical choices.

Requirements7

• 1Extensive hands-on experience with OpenSCAD, including completion of full projects from concept to final export.
• 2Strong knowledge of CAD fundamentals and CSG methodologies.
• 3Proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable CAD software tools.
• 4Proven ability to create, document, and optimize reusable OpenSCAD modules and parametric scripts.
• 5Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clarity and detailed technical explanation.
• 6Demonstrated capability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting collaborative project goals.
• 7Meticulous attention to engineering decisions and the logical progression of design tasks.
