Overview

This role combines architecture, industrial design, and operational systems thinking to design and optimize warehouses, labs, and production environments that support robotics, hardware, and AI operations. The Commercial Space Architect will translate technical requirements into high-performance spaces that maximize throughput, safety, and scalability. They will evaluate facility layouts, identify risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create modern environments for efficient human and machine workflows.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Review and evaluate facility layouts for robotics operations, repair areas, charging infrastructure, receiving, storage, QC, network rooms, and operator workspaces, identifying risks and optimization opportunities.
  • 2Assess facilities for operational readiness including power, HVAC, networking, security, life safety, loading access, and infrastructure constraints.
  • 3Optimize layouts to improve throughput, equipment uptime, workflow efficiency, and space utilization.
  • 4Analyze adjacency and workflow design to support seamless movement of people, robots, and materials.
  • 5Partner with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Real Estate, Safety, and Finance teams to develop scalable facility solutions.
  • 6Identify design and infrastructure risks early to enable better site selection and buildout decisions.

Requirements6

  • 1Experience in commercial architecture, industrial facilities, warehouse planning, or manufacturing environments.
  • 2Strong understanding of operational workflows, facility systems, and space optimization.
  • 3Ability to review technical floor plans and translate requirements into practical buildout recommendations.
  • 4Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar design tools.
  • 5Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • 6Systems-thinking mindset with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and safety.
